I get that this subreddit is for discussion and information on stuttering... but as stutterers who face constant/semi-constant struggle in our daily lives dealing with a speech impediment that majority of us would rather live without, what harm can a light-hearted post do? Most of us don’t like our stutter. We associate it with struggle, embarrassment and the likes. Can’t taking a break from this viewpoint boost our mood? It certainly does me for; whenever I look at these memes. I don’t agree with your point where memes have to be complex. They don’t, they’re jokes. They’re meant to be relatable (which majority of comments on memes in this subreddit can vouch for). They’re not meant to be scientifically accurate. Aren’t you simply over-analysing the comedic effect of this post? It’s meant to be a light-hearted, non-serious and relatable meme... why analyse what “theory matter” this post brings? I believe that this subreddit has grown to become a community and safe space for stutterers where we can all share the different experiences we have in our lives. Gate keeping such a community to only having “serious posts” is, in my opinion, quite unproductive in itself. We are a community. We’re meant to learn, live and, last but not least - laugh together.
