Don't worry Kyle, I can feel your pain, I had a similar scenario when I had to read a paragraph back in school, this is honestly one of the hardest things for us, having to read out loud text that we can't really change since everyone is following the text. The teacher was wrong to stop you, they should have let you carry on because otherwise it just drops your confidence. Maybe see if you could speak to them privately to talk about it? I still stutter at the age of 25, I'm a pharmacist and generally I do well, but today I really struggled to clearly advise a patient on how to use their medicine, mainly because they didn't speak English so already anticipated that they would struggle to understand. We all have difficult social scenarios from time to time, I'm sure you will rarely have to read out paragraphs in later life! But honestly you are not dumb, think about all the things you are amazing at, or think about the times where you spoke really well or made someone laugh.
