I see it like there's the potential for the speech system to break down at any time; sometimes the system works, sometimes it hits a snag. We all know that fluency is affected by stress/anxiety/confidence (among other things) but I haven't found any studies that show how those things affect the neurology of speech production. Would be really interesting to see, though.
