How to fix stutter. A guide on how to fix a social stutter. This is also known as a developmental stutter. I had one for many years and finally figured out the cause of it along with how to fix it. I have so far tried this with 6 people I know with a stutter and had a 100% success rate. First, lets start off with what a stutter is. Most people think its a involuntary repetition of sounds. A trouble speaking and getting the words out. That something is actually wrong with the person mortar functions for speaking. This is not the case for a developmental stutter as people with this type of stutter can speak perfectly fluently when they are alone. This is like saying a fear of heights is the lack of ability to walk to high places. No, its an anxiety that the person has of dying from falling from a high place. Similarly with a stutter, its actually a fear of people. Even people who don't usually stutter sometimes stutter in high pressure situations. Think about in a movie when someone is speaking to a king and is fearful. He starts to stutter. So now that we defined what a stutter actually is, lets go into how to cure it or rather get over the fear of people. So how do we do it? The same way we get past any fear. For a person with a fear of heights, make him go bungee jump off a cliff or rock climbing. For someone who is afraid of witches, show him pictures of a witch. Expose him to the fear until its no longer there. With a social stutter its a bit more complicated. When I had my stutter, it would only get worse and worse. The reason this would happen is because of my habits changing that were associated with the fear with would get me stuck in a "loop hole from hell". The more I stuttered in front people, the more I scared of them I would be, the more I would keep my head down and avoid I contact, and the worse my stutter would get. The the fix is simple. Break these habits. Always walk with your head up looking straight. This shows people you are no king and ain't no peasant. If you walk past someone make a second of eye contact. Dont be afraid of people nor the consequences of feeling weird. Obviously if your going to trip on something look down for a second. What your doing here is saying I am a threat and you don't scare me. And by the way I did feel very cringy saying that. Worth it to get the point across tho. When you talk to someone make eye contact. Dont be afraid and look away because of fear. At a dinner table don't keep your head down. Look at eye level. This will make your stutter 99% better. Also, walk with good posture. This means keeping your chest open and lifted, with your shoulders relaxed and slightly back. Almost standing to your fullest height. Again, this is showing that you are a threat and helps face your fear of people. But even by doing this, you will keep stuttering on your name. Oh stuttering on your name. The worst thing ever. Whats a better way to communicate to someone I'm incapable of doing anything and maximizing embarrassment? Stuttering on your damn name. So why doesn't the methods I've said in this paragraph help with saying your name. Simple, because you wont introduce yourself to other people and you therefor have a fear of people so you stutter. But if you introduce yourself and not wait out of fear of stuttering and hoping they wont ask you, you will be able to say your name. Good luck and please comment your results!
