No, I received no help for my stuttering. My parents were abusive and at the age of 69, I began psychotherapy for anxiety and depression and my abusive childhood. was uncovered. Miraculously, dealing with the latent anger and resentment toward my parents, my stuttering ENDED! Better late than never. As for your regret of not fully appreciating the speech therapy available to you; as a child, we seldom recognize the importance of our opportunities. Don't beat yourself up. Avail yourself now of every opportunity to improve your oral communication. Use every means of engaging in verbal communication even with strangers. This will lower your anxiety while speaking. Expose yourself and you'll be able to speak with more ease. It’s called exposure therapy. The more you do it, the easier it will get. Good luck, Sue
