In theory it should but, based on my experience, not so much. It’s difficult to pinpoint the root cause of stuttering simply because we are unique in our own way. There’s multiple things that can happen that correlates with stuttering such as childhood trauma, drug induced, brain damage, and even genetics. I see success stories from people all the time but just because it worked for them, doesn’t mean it will for you. Does that make it not worth trying though? No, absolutely not. While each stutter is unique, there are ways that can treat multiple people. I for one, have not found one yet, so im out looking for answers. I do truly believe that mine is a learned behavior from childhood trauma so yes, I agree with you. If we could just wipe that part of our memory, we would be free. Everything comes at a cost though There’s a book called “Stuttering & Anxiety Self-Cures” by Lee G. Lovett. This man has helped hundreds of people overcome their stutter. He even has private sessions with people free of cost (I think). He has the same theory, if we forget about stuttering, we won’t stutter at all. He goes through several techniques to help get through the repetitions and blocks, but I still see that as an avoidance techniques, someone can correct me if I’m wrong here. Nonetheless, it’s still a great read that can help you manage it better.
