I think many people who stutter experience this phenomenon. Don’t know the science but I think it’s just being relaxed and not having to worry about anyone hearing me stutter. I think if you’re able to speak mostly fluent alone, theoretically you could do it in front of people. But there’s mental issues preventing you from doing so, aside from the speech impediment itself. But again, I don’t know the science.
