Thank you for your interest! Actually, the purpose of my study is to understand more about trait mindfulness in people who stutter since it's an understudied area overall, not just in people who stutter. People often confuse state mindfulness (think yoga) with trait mindfulness (natural disposition). I want to know if someone's natural disposition towards mindfulness (which is different for different people) would impact their inclination towards a certain strategy or success with a given strategy. I recently completed the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and struggled tremendously, while everyone around me absolutely loved it! In terms of people who stutter, there are two papers that come to mind that outline how mindfulness training can be applied to stuttering therapy. They are Boyle, M. (2011). Mindfulness training in stuttering therapy. Journal of Fluency Disorders, (36)2, 122-129 and Medina, A.M. & Mead, J.S. (2021). An exploration of mindfulness in speech-language pathology. Communication Disorders Quarterly, 42(4), 257-265. Again, the literature on its application is still sparse, but growing. If you are someone who would rather watch and listen, here is Dr. Boyle discussion on mindfulness and stuttering: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAK\_xsa\_dSc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAK_xsa_dSc) I'm hoping that by understanding the relationship between trait mindfulness and the experience of stuttering through empirical measures it will be more widely considered and establish the need for holistic treatment options. I really like the question and it gives me a chance to explain the purpose and how we can all contribute to this very needed area. Let me know if you have more questions or feel free to email me too :)
