Fidgets can be surprisingly discreet. I hear what you’re saying about becoming dependent. I’d rather an actual cure too. But fidgeting can be a positive coping strategy, it’s not like drugs. I’ve never tried fidgets for stuttering (I don’t feel the need to) but I have used them for anxiety. They’ve mostly phased out of my life as I developed other strategies. My need to fidget is a lot less intense now. I have a rough textured sticker on the back of my phone. Dragging my finger over it a bit is enough. The phone is always in my pocket so it’s not an inconvenience. Is it the greatest solution to all my problems? No. But I’m glad I used fidgets to help me out when I needed it.
