I've had one guy flat out tell me he avoids talking to me because of my stutter, because he doesn't want to make me struggle like that. He was just being overly honest, but it's obvious other people do the same. They deflect conversations away from me as much as possible, I rarely get directly asked a question, etc. I know they think they're being nice, but it really hurts to be excluded like that. I also see people getting very uncomfortable when I stutter. They shift awkwardly, distract themselves with loose papers or the ceiling, etc. That hurts too, to know that I make people uncomfortable - which in turn means they don't enjoy talking to me.
