I usually block on the first sound of a word. To overcome it I use the technique of elongating it. If I find myself slightly out of breath, I take a deep breath. I used to find doing that might look odd to others, but I have stopped caring what others think of my speech. This book is really good in both exercises as well as emotion handling.
