I’m so sorry you had to go through everything you went through. I’m 22 now, and I speak fluently for the most part. I have my bad stuttering moments though. I don’t think it will ever go away 100%, and it always creeps up when I least expect it. The ironic part is that I’m applying to SLP grad schools rn lol. Yes, I’ve heard the same thing; people who stutter are far from “stupid”. We’re actually pretty intelligent. I understand how you feel. I’ve accepted my stuttering, but sometimes my trauma resurfaces. Being called on to speak in class, presentations, being forced to read aloud in class...people looking at me with pity, confusion, or annoyance... TRAUMATIC. I was recommended for special education classes in elementary school. My mother marched into the school and gave the teacher hell lmao. I definitely developed anxiety from my stutter though.
