ADA requires that an employer make a reasonable accommodation so the employee can perform the essential functions of job. We don’t know the job OP was not given, but the truth is that some jobs require frequent clear, direct and timely verbal communication skills. Some people who stutter struggle with those tasks. It’s possible the employee was being a discriminatory asshole. But it’s also possible they were not
