Stutter is now significantly under control in the past few weeks My stutter was largely inflated by anxiety. I don’t stutter alone, when talking to family or friends, or when doing menial tasks such as groceries, ordering food, running errands. If yours is due to anxiety/trauma I think this approach could work for you. My 3 pronged approach: 1) self hypnosis/meditation daily Start off with meditation if you’re scatterbrained. You need to be able to focus and detach from lingering negative thoughts, or even better eliminate them. I was so scatterbrained and was constantly on edge with ruined my stutter. Once you get your mind under control then explore self-hypnosis. When you get into a light trance, suggestibility into the subconscious increases massively. There were two videos by Michael Sealey that helped me significantly. Hypnosis for Social Anxiety, Hypnosis for Subconscious Positivity. My session 8 days ago I woke up in tears of joy, I think that was the turning point. I’ve been doing this for about 60 days. 2) Lee Lovt’s crutches. Particularly 2 of them - jamming a sound or a larger phrase with the feared word, and skipping the first letter (H sometimes is tough for me, so this was a lifesaver for that). I used these for a 10 days a straight and they usually worked. Now my confidence has increased, so I don’t need them as often. 3) Benzos as needed I still have a slight issue when giving speeches, presentations etc. here I take a low dose of Ativan which makes my stutter almost nil. Make sure you get a subscription but don’t use it more than twice a week or else you’ll get physical dependency. I think this is pretty important for eliminating negative memories in pressure moments. Once you have full confidence and many positive instances of non-stuttering you probably won’t need it. Soon I hope to get completely off.
