I've never considered myself as disabled. I've worked over a dozen jobs, had multiple relationships, excelled in university and can do everything else that other people can do, except maybe presenting to a live TV audience or commentating a fast-paced sports match. Just to name a few disabilities: blindness, deafness, autism, physical disabilities, epilepsy, intellectual and the list goes on. Stuttering is nowhere near as difficult as those disabilities. Sure, stuttering has caused me a lot of grief, hardship and missed opportunities, but I refuse to accept that it's a disability. I'm still able to speak, although it may take me some time to get words out or create hesitancy. Maybe I'm a bit stubborn, but I refuse to think that stuttering is a disability. And if I'm wrong, then it's a less severe or mild one at maximum. I'm tired of people saying stuttering is a full blown disability.
