This happened to me as well but differently. Except me and another girl had the same first name and I was asked my last name. Couldn’t get it out and the other girl said her last name. Horrific experience but at the end of the day those people don’t know your experience. They have no right to laugh. With that being said many people laugh out of uncomfortableness and silence. I don’t think they knew you struggle with fluency and couldn’t get it out. I would try my hardest to not take it personally and really focus on your education and avoid the people who laughed. This is about you and your goals and introductions go away. However there will be times you stutter and badly in front of people. I hope you do learn to give yourself grace and love and patience. You probably won’t even see these people in a year two. I don’t mean to be insensitive with anything I said here, just out of my own experience. Much love to you, you can do anything you want with a stutter.
