Yeah, I got a call at work from a pissed off husband who thought I was making fun of his wife for having Tourette’s. “Stuttering is very rude and offensive to someone who has Tourette’s, why are you making fun of her?” (Edited the profanity out). All that I was able to say (in the moment, very heated, unable to speak… you all know the drill) was: “I have a stutter in my speech. Why would I make fun of her when I didn’t know she had Tourette’s when I spoke with her on the phone?” And continued to listen to him doubt me and tell me I was making it up. I eventually just hung up.
