I got my stutter directly from my dad and my mom took me to a SLP when I was about five. Being aware of it and the possibility of it being permanent really helped. If your child does stutter, the best thing you can do is get him speech therapy early and be supportive of his speech. My dad felt guilty about giving me his stutter and he could be very mean to me about mine. It’s something that has really affected to this day. Your kid stuttering won’t be the end of the world, especially if has the support of his dad.
