Unsolicited stammering ‘advice’ or comments

Unsolicited stammering ‘advice’ or comments What’s the oddest or weirdest piece (probably unsolicited) of ‘advice’ someone has given you as regards stammering/stuttering? Once I was in a takeaway restaurant and the man at the till said some relative of his had a stammer until he stopped speaking entirely for over a month. Yes as this would make sense for me to do in my day to day life alright. All I wanted was some pizza. I used to have a job in retail, at one point a customer was trying to convince me I wasn’t from the town or country I’m from as my English fluency wasn’t good enough for her with the stammer, when English is my first language. She was trying to somehow convince that I was of certain specific nationality which I’m not. Also in general I hate when people say ‘just breathe’ or ‘slow down’ These might work for some people or some of the time but I don’t need to be belittled. Overall I’ve come to accept my stammer a bit more over time, not that I like it but it is there as a thing I have. I’ve grown more confident in situations which I know I’ll probably stammer. Yes some people will be rude or condescending about it but there are also many more people in this world who are willing to be patient and respectful.
