I already saw your other post about the del Ferro method and then I had to check out the science behind it. As mich as I absolutely believe there are success stories, here are some problems I have with how you and others promote the method: Yes, there is a scientific paper linked on the webpage and yes it is about stuttering. I am a scientist with PhD specializing in research methods and statistics and after skimming the paper I have to say: the claims you make cannot be derived from this paper: 1. The sample is insultingly small (10 pws). Drawing inferences on a population of approx 80 million pws from this is just ridiculous. 2. It is just 1 study. In empirical studies results vary naturally as there are many factors in the complex reality that may influence efficacy of a treatment. Some studies may produce positive results, some negative. That is why we ALWAYS need research syntheses that aggregate effects from over 30-50 studies on the same treatment. Only THEN we can say if something really works and under which circumstances. 3. The fact that del Ferro is one of the authors doesn't really make me trust the study more. He has a clear interest in producing positive results. Biased researchers (even if they don't intend to manipulate the study) are a massive problem in the scientific system, maybe the biggest problem at date. 4. The study is not well documented and therefore it is quite unclear what exactly happened in the study. This is a massive quality issue of the study. 5. The study would be considered a "breaktheough study" in the scientific community, if your claims would be true ("healing all stutters"). If it is a seminal study, it should be cited A LOT by other researchers. However, the study was only cited 52 times. Considering the old age of the study, this is VERY little attention. I would have expected it to be cited several thousand times On a personal level: The agressiveness with which you advertise the method is not my cup o tea. Also: why is the treatment so expensive? If they would really "only want to help people" they would try to generate less operating margin. For example: I organize full day schools to teach research methods sometimes for free sometimes nearly for free.
