Do you guys ever take an extra second or so when responding in conversation? Hi! I’m just curious if it’s normal/common for someone with a stutter to sometimes take a few seconds before replying in a conversation? For example my mother will ask me if I would like to get something to eat and if I know I’m going to stutter I will take a little bit of time to respond. She’s understanding of my stutter and I have no reason to suppress but it almost comes naturally. Also do you guys choose different words almost subconsciously to prevent the stutter? For example I could be having a flowing conversation with a friend for 10 minutes then a certain word like “good” I’ll know I will stutter so automatically I use the word “great” instead. This is just one of many examples. Last question, have u guys developed an accent or a slightly different way of saying words? I had a contract to stream a video game on a streaming platform so I have been busy doing that for like 4+ hrs per day for 3 months. I recently spoke with my sister and she said I have developed an accent. The only reason I can think of is streaming/talking for 4hr + everyday I have slightly changed my way of talking to prevent any stutters. Thanks for reading :)
