I used to think that but it's actually usually the opposite. Most of us (at least in the beginning) will try to avoid conversations and speaking in order to "hide" our stutter. That makes you appear much less confident than someone who stutters their way through it. Before, when I gave short answers to try to minimize the blocks, people would always cut me off or assume I didn't know what I was talking about. Now when I talk, people listen. I still struggle with that concept, but I've found that most people dont care about my stutter. If someone wants to hear what you have to say, they'll listen patiently. If they don't, they didn't deserve to hear it anyway
