I inherited my stutter from my dad. There’s always a chance that your child could get it, there’s a chance they could not. The way I would think about it is, if they do then you have a unique opportunity to make it easier for them. They can see and hear you stutter and not feel like they’re weird or broken, because their dad does it. That’s how I felt as a child. You’re not gonna be able to fix it, but you can recognize it early and hopefully get them into speech that could make things easier. If they do stutter, you have to remind yourself that it’s not the end of the world and make sure they know that’s it’s okay.
