No one in my family stutters, but my father has a tic disorder. I have no tics, but I developed a stutter at the age of three. After reading lots of research on stuttering, I‘m pretty sure that his tic disorder has something to do with my stutter (there are many neurological similarities between tic disorders/tourette and stuttering). I cannot rember any childhood traumas and had a good childhood overall. So I‘m pretty sure that my stutter has a pure neurological basis.
