It's always so hard to talk to my boyfriends family. They are nice, but I just feel so on the spot. , especially since his dad is highly educated and I feel like they may think that I'm dumb or not good enough. I stutter a lot and I wish I knew how to handle it with more confidence. Ugh. Insecurities. I try to only go their for dinner on holidays, I know I shouldn't avoid them, but it's hard to deal with. People in authority like teachers, the police, service people (waiters, barista, postman, etc.) have always been a challenge as well. I think it has to do with the time pressure of feeling the need to speak clearly and quickly.
