How to talk to someone with a stutter? This seems like a common question, but I did some scrolling and couldn't find it asked previously here. Recently a person with a moderate stutter joined my Bible study. I want to be as accommodating as possible and let him know he's welcome. Is there something I can do to help him in a conversation? Or do you prefer I just treat him like I would anyone else, and just wait patiently when he stutters? I've always wondered if there's a respectful way to help someone though their stutter. It seems finishing sentences is disrespectful, but he stutters the worst when he's introducing himself when we go around at the beginning of the study. We're all wearing name tags, so some people have replied "well nice to meet you <name>" before he finishes. Is that rude?
