I applaud you coming in and making an attempt to understand stuttering. However, would you go in a weightloss sub and go: lovely guy, BUT HE WAS MASSIVELY OVERWEIGHT? words matter. Not that you said anything inherently wrong, and you will get different opinions in this, but I'd say general consensus prefers people wait and finish. I know this is probably a me thing... Smiling is a nice gesture, but when someone says something like, take your time, you got this, etc., I don't get mad or anything, but it's more like "oh here we go again". I like to be treated like a "fluent" speaker.
