>from there it is just the trouble of coming up with a good sentence and then having replies to what they will say back. Does anyone have advice on simply practicing a rebuttal in these types of situations? I'm not quite sure, but it sounds to me like you're doing word substitution, and spending an inordinate amount of effort trying to perfect the intended speech delivery in advance. But that's not how stutter ought to be approached, and that's not how communication works. Substitution is an avoidance trick. It doesn't address the root issue. It's also not necessarily reliable. No matter how much you practice, you cannot guarantee "perfect delivery", because no such thing exists. What we intend always comes up against what we actually perform. I think you should consider working with a professional to get a proper handle on your stutter - just so you don't trap yourself in impractical habits.
