SLPs are mostly trained to treat disorders that originate from the mouth/face/throat area - articulation, swallowing etc. If you can say your own name, address, drive through order, normally when you practice alone but freeze up when someone else is there, then your mouth/face is not the *source* of the problem. Simply ask if they have had *specialized* training to treat dysfluency. If they say “I learned about it in school”, that means they read a few articles - and their advice will be more likely to make your dysfluency *worse*. If you cannot find/afford a properly trained SLP, try this guy https://www.stuttering-specialist.com/media Start w first episode of the podcast. Also, read his bio
