I made up my own name... but then I forgot I did I’m a 21yo girl and I’ve had a stutter since I was 4. It went away for a period (I don’t know how but I damn wish it would come again), and then when I started college it came back. It’s haunted me ever since- as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed it get worse. Anyway, I was at a function and I was socialising with a bunch of people when the conversation turned to me. “What’s your name, what do you do?”. It was an internal “oh shit” moment, and when I couldn’t say my name I made one up, from about 1 out of 4 letters I don’t block on (can anyone relate?!) Jokes on me though, because about 30mins later I was asked by another person (with the previous group of people listening) and I totally forgot the name I made up, and somehow managed to say my real name instead :’)) And that’s only a fraction of the soul burying moments I’ve had:)
