I'm British and I've had some people comment that I sometimes sound American or I sometimes talk 'posh'. I think I sometimes take on a different accent because I tend not to stammer when talking in a different accent than my own. I also know of a lady who has a stammer and when she's at work (she's a teacher) she uses a Scottish accent even though she's not Scottish but when she talks with the Scottish accent she doesn't stammer.
