I think there are a lot of factors but I think the road to recovery mostly involves the same general principles. So every program has to involve supportive individuals, growth in confidence, assertiveness. Increased creativity and joy for life. Goal-setting, accepting that we can’t fully control how others think about us. Gradual exposure to feared situations. Making amends with the people in life we may be angry or resentful towards. And then you can add speech technique of course such as focusing on breathing. Then there’s other general principles of health such as eating healthy, exercising, and sleeping well. And having a healthy use of alcohol. Not all of these factors have to come from whatever speech program we are investing in. We can take some knowledge from a book we read, some from watching interviews with our favorite athlete or celebrity, some we can learn from a regular therapist. It’s about extracting all the positivity and supportive thoughts that we can find in our day-to day life. And using the resources in our life to help us. This is just my understanding of giving ourselves a chance at a full recovery. I could be wrong, maybe there are other approaches. But I believe that this approach will work in the Western World, where things such as assertiveness and self-confidence are valuable traits. What do you think?
