The first sentence of this post is what’s impacting your stutter the most. Embarrassment. The fear to be anything less than fluent. You have to come to terms with the fact that you’re going to trip up sometimes. You’re going to stumble upon words and feel embarrassed. That’s the only way to become more fluent is to get the idea out of your head that you have to be perfect every time. I say this as someone that’s fighting the same battle. Give yourself some grace. Take a deep breath, and try again. Don’t compare yourself to the speaker you think you should be.
