I just disclose my stutter and my frowning tics. So I say that when I pause and frown, that is not me trying to give dirty look, that's just me struggling with words in the middle of my sentence and you can just let me finish because the pause will be over in 10 seconds. Saying that achieves two things. 1. Now they know what's going on when pause or frown happens. 2. Now they know how to react: letting me finish.
