As a student that is going through speech therapy for years, talking slow can help reduce the amount of blocks or repetitions of your speech. However, there are other techniques that can help you speak fluently in a normal pace. There's this thing that my speech clinician taught me and that is called **Stretchy Speech**. Basically, this technique revolves around stretching the beginning vowel of a word in the beginning of a sentence or a word that you have stuttered mid sentence. By stretching the beginning vowel of a word, it helps to maintain and reform fluency whenever you speak. **So, using text for an example:** (Without) "Th-the dogs are chasing the cats!" (With) "Thhhhe dogs are chasing the cats!" (Without) "The dogs are ch-chasing the cats!" (With) "The dogs are ch... Chhhasing the cats!" (With) "The dogs are chhhasing the cats!"
