Absolutely, f*** speech therapy. I’ve never had a good experience in speech therapy, I’ve only ever felt humiliated and disappointed. Maybe there are good speech therapists out there, I don’t know, but i have never encountered any. You might be right that a medicine could potentially help or (maybe?) cure stuttering. My gut feeling says it wouldn’t happen, but what do I know. Never say never. Also I don’t really see why we shouldn’t be allowed to talk about wanting a cure, we shouldn’t be policing each others feelings here, it’s a valid feeling to have. For me personally, I disagree about wanting to speak fluently— I managed to give myself my own speech therapy, and I’ve overcome some of the worst aspects of stuttering (such as, prolonged silent blocks, as well as extreme anxiety, and shame and self hatred). I still stutter, but I’m okay with it, and I wouldn’t take a pill to cure it, even if there was one. I like that I have a diverse voice that’s different from the mainstream and challenges what people expect from human communication and conversation.
