Speech therapy was not helpful to me at. I saw a psychotherapist for a few years and we tackled anxiety about other things. We never talked about stuttering, but clearing my head of other anxiety triggers really helped. I felt more confident. Especially once I asked him what he thought of my stuttering and he said he said you make room for your stuttering. It’s just there. He was listening to my words. That too really boosted my confidence. Some people feel embarrassed by needing counseling but it was the best I ever did for myself.
