It’s an endless battle. It doesn’t “bother me” to the extent that I don’t see anything wrong with stuttering around friends and family. However, in my day to day, I still struggle at times. Most recently, I’ve been having trouble saying my name. Not sure why I’ve regressed on this but it can be challenging, especially at work where I interact with delivery drivers. I’ve stuttered since I began speaking. I’m currently 28 now. I never got the help I needed growing up and I had to learn on my own the different techniques people use to hide their stutter. Like using synonyms for a word you can’t say or speaking slower and softer. I had to learn everything on my own. It was a rough childhood but for some reason, young me wasn’t as self conscious about my speech as I am now. It helps to not care what others think about your speech. Easier said than done but that’s ultimately the path to a more fluent speech. Surround yourself with people who understand what you’re going through. It makes life much better.
