Man, I don't know what it was about stuttering specifically, but it pulled out some crazy treatment ideas. Van Riper was/is a really big deal because he was one of the first researchers in the field of stuttering! Thank goodness that someone started studying it scientifically instead of just cutting off body parts or shoving weird tonics in mouths.
