Yes, most ppl w social anxiety do not stutter, but that proves nothing. PWS block bc of fear of remembering previous distressing talking situations. You block when ordering coffee bc of years of *not being able to switch/avoid/“forget” your own name. Think what you want, but me and many others have used the knowledge I’m sharing to become very comfortable and fluent, sustainably, I’m away that *improves* with time. I’m a preschool teacher - I talk all day long, to children, parents and many other teachers. Just 16 months ago, I couldn’t order at a drive through - now, Im very fluent/comfortable speaking almost all the time. According to SLPs who specialize in dysfluency, and the DSM, IMPACTFUL stuttering is a close parallel to PTSD. I am sad that some PWS are uncomfortable acknowledging this because it’s the key to becoming a comfortable/fluent speaker. There’s no shame in it, and it *does not* mean your parents did something terrible to you!
