There is a very fine and distinct line between both of the options you presently hold. I'm 23. I've had a stutter for more than half of my life. It has never held me back. In high school I preformed theatre. Main roles. I never once hesitates in my lines because I understood who and what I am. Stuttering is something you have to live with, and it comes with consequences, but you cannot allow it to define who you are as an individual. You are much more than a human with a stutter. Sure, stuttering is not attractive to the ears. As an intelligent individual myself, sometimes it can sound moronic or barbaric even, but it allows you to notice and understand the humbleness of speech.
