I think, feared letters (in your case, the letters t, p and k) are a consequence of experiencing failure on those sounds. The point I'm trying to make is: failure in itself, is not the problem. Babies, and students fail many times in many aspects in their lives. Who cares! However, I think that the problem arises when we develop a doom and gloom mentality based on the failed experiences - **in our case, when we fail getting the message accross due to the letters t, p and k** - such as: * Self-fulfilling prophecies (basically, we fail, then we start anticipating (or focusing on negative past experiences), and then it becomes a self-perpetuating cycle of self-fulfilling prophecy) * Learned helplessness (basically, we believe that no matter what we try when pronouncing those feared sounds, that it's in vain) * Cognitive distortions (yes, like perfectionism - for example, we care too much about disfluencies on feared sounds; catastrophizing, overgeneralization, black-white thinking) * Reduced tolerance for those feared sounds (resulting in being triggered quicker to do fight flight freeze responses) * Learning negative associations of the letters t, p or k * Distorted identity and self-concept and narrative (like, internalizing negative beliefs about the ability to initiate speech movements) * Impaired risk-taking and decision-making (basically, we start developing a monitoring-inhibition-avoidance mechanism due to the way we perceive those 3 feared sounds) * Negative attributional style (basically, we attribute failing to say those 3 sounds to global and other causes) * Victim mentality- Self-gaslighting - Unnecessary sensitization - Coercive Control- Fearmongering - Feeling irresponsible, apathy or neglect, or feeling no commitment towards trial-and-error, or fundamental responsibility for learning basic speech movement initiation when speaking the feared letters /T/, /P/ or /K/ This is just my own take on how I see it. To sum up, feared letters suck ass
