Jobs? Disability? 29/M Have any of you gotten disability benefits for your stutter if it impedes you from working most jobs? I tried to get SSDI years ago, but that didn't work. It was not only for my stutter, but for my social anxiety and severe depression. My speech is to the point where talking isn't even an efficient form of communication. So many jobs require "excellent communication skills". I'm a disabled Marine vet and my stutter got worse while I was in. My disability status isn't related to my stutter. It isn't improving even though I go to speech therapy. I do odd jobs, but I don't make enough money to be financially stable. I graduate with a bachelor's in Philosophy next year. I want to earn my Master's in History because it's what I'm most passionate about. I just got hired at Wendy's without an actual interview. I don't even know who my boss is or what my pay is. I barely got a chance to talk because the worker just rushed me through the "interview". I'm supposed to get a phone call or email soon from the manager or whoever. They don't know I stutter. If they make me take orders, they're going to be in for a rude awakening. It seems like the vast majority of jobs available are customer service jobs. What kind of jobs do y'all work? Do any of you get disability?
