I don't remember the exact day I gained knowledge of my disorder, but it had to come around 3rd or 4th grade when I had gone to therapy for a couple of years already. I was so young that a lot of the speech therapy was group based, so I just thought we were being rewarded when we would get collected in the middle of class for our hour long therapy sessions. 3rd or 4th grade is when I was individualized in therapy and became more focused on stuttering rather than overall communication skills. I was the only pws in my school, most other students in speech had hearing impairments, motor delays etc.
