My stutter has been bad my entire life, so I spent most of my early years inside in computers. I’m now about 10 years deep in a solid engineering career working as a lead eng for a live-streaming platform. I still need to talk during team meetings sometimes, or help my coworkers and such, but nothing major. Even then no one on my team cares that I stutter and are all used to me having to type what I’m saying in chat then going back to speaking. I’m supposed to do a company wide presentation at some point and will be prerecording it or ask someone to read a script for me, or I might opt for writing a blog post. There are definitely career opportunities out there that either involve less speaking, or where is only within your team and people won’t care. I’m definitely lucky having gone down this path, but there are other ones out there as well.
