As someone with a degree in political science and a stutterer myself, there is a difference between Biden’s stutter and his straight up incoherent statements. His “corn pop” gaff has little to do with his stutter, it had more to do with the strange things coming out of his mouth about his hairy legs and the such. He’s also said that “poor kids are the same as white kids” on stage once. I agree that the media is using his stutter in part to make an argument that he has dementia. However, I do think anybody running for president of the United States should be scrutinized considerably for what they say. And what he says, often doesn’t have to do with his stutter and more to do with strange things he says while on stage. I’m with everyone though that this is a great opportunity to make the world more aware that stuttering is something that afflicts all kinds of people.
