I would say it's helped me communicate more because it allows me to say what's on my mind, but it has likely hindered my willingness to speak to people as much verbally due to my natural preference for written communication. I have to make calls for work, so I think over the past 5-7 years I've gotten more comfortable talking on the phone. But in my personal life I'm much more likely to respond via text/dm rather than pick up the phone and talk to someone.
