Hi! So my middle son is almost 10 years old, and still has a stutter. His stutter is fairly mild, and only comes out when he's angry or excited. He tells me that it happens at school a lot too. He's in speech therapy through our school, and has been, since in kindergarten. I don't know how much ST is helping, to be honest..... but anyway, he isn't concerned about it. He never gets made fun of at school about his stutter. Our whole family (he has 2 brothers) are all very nonchalant about it too. It's really no big deal! We have a few great picture books that feature kids who stutter in them. They may be a bit advanced for a 3 year old? But sounds like your kid is super advanced in some ways, so may be ok! (My boy has very severe learning disabilities in reading and writing, so our situations are quite different there!) I feel like shame is such a powerful emotion, and so I wanted to be really open about it with him, have picture books reflecting people stuttering around, and I also showed some YouTubers who have stutters. He enjoys all of it! My boy's favourite book in this category is When Oliver Speaks. He ADORES it so much! (I love I Talk Like a River, because it's beautiful)
