Its been super awkward for me when I have run into another stutterer. It’s only happened a handful of times in my life, but every time it’s this weird moment when they first speak, and I realize they’re a stutterer. I don’t like talking about my stutter, so when I reply and stutter too, I’m afraid they think I’m mocking them or something, so I get more tense. They’re doing word replacement, I am too... we’re both struggling, eyes darting around, we’re wound up from the anxiety, and both of us leave the exchange feeling exhausted and frustrated. Sigh... Glad your experience went better.
