As mentioned in another comment, I'm a regular at our coffee shop (it's a busy one so I can forgive them not knowing my name off by heart), and at least one of the servers know my name so I'd feel a bit weird using a different name! My name is short (4 letters) and I can only really shorten it down to three letters, but I could give that a go next time.
